Gazelle T4 Hub Pop-Up Tent Review (Camping Tent)
If you’re looking for a quick pop-up tent that is also durable, then Gazelle Tents has just what you need. The Gazelle T4 Hub Pop-Up Tent has plenty of room, and can be set up in just a few minutes time. It is the easiest tent we have ever used when it comes to ground tents.

The Pop-Up Feature
The design to set up and tear down this Gazelle hub tent is the highlight of this whole tent review. The thoughtful design of this tent allows you to quickly pop the walls out on this tent and it is ready to be slept in.
The tent shell rods are durable and click right into place to hold the shape of this tent. When it is time to tear down the tent, you just pop the rods back inward and fold it up into the carrying bag.
This is the ultimate tent option when it comes to an easy ground tent set up. The Gazelle hub tent is by far the easiest tent that we’ve ever used in regards to setting up and packing up.
The Space
Another important feature to mention for this Gazelle tent review is the space.
The Gazelle T4 Hub Pop-Up Tent has a large square floor of 94 inches by 94 inches. It leaves plenty of space for your sleeping bags plus gear.
You can fit 4 people (per “tent standards”), plus you have spare space at your feet for your backpacking and camping gear.
The height of the Gazelle tent is 78 inches. It is the perfect size for tall people as they can actually stand up inside of the tent while setting up or changing clothes.
We think the Gazelle tent is one of the best options when it comes to tents for tall people.
Doors & Windows
This Gazelle T4 Hub Pop-Up Tent features D-shaped doors on two corners of the tent. It gives you easy access to the tent on either side. The D-shaped doors also allow for easy zipping in one direction instead of arching around an entire door.
The tight-weave mesh windows keep bugs out while allowing a nice airway. There are 4 windows, one on each corner of the tent.
Each door and window has a zippable lining to close off to keep in heat or keep out rain.
The roof is also made of the tight-weave mesh to allow for extra air ventilation. It makes it a great option for summer camping and stargazing.
Removable Floor
The flooring on this tent is attached by velcro. It is the perfect feature to help keep your floor clean. Simply un-velcro sections of the floor and sweep out any debris.
Gazelle Tents also made sure that the velcro seam isn’t touching the ground, but it’s several inches above the ground. There are no concerns with water or critters being able to get into the velcro seam since it sits high off the ground.
Inside Storage
Another positive aspect for this Gazelle tent review is the inside storage. The tent has 4 large storage pockets. There is a storage pocket on each wall, which makes it easy to fit all of your gear.
The pockets are deep, so you can stuff clothes & larger items down into the pockets with no issues. This helps keep your apparel off the floor.
There is also a removable gear loft on the ceiling of the tent. This will hold a handful of various items, but also works great for storing a light to help keep the tent lit at night.
No need to remove the gear loft when you put the tent away. It stores right along in the top of the tent when folded up.
This is a great tent to use when it comes to storage based on the pockets and spare space for gear.
Weather Performance
I couldn’t find it on the Gazelle Tents website, but I would guess that this is a 3-season tent. The mesh roof and large spacious inside makes it hard to keep the tent warm in colder months.
We have camped in it when it was around 45 degrees with our heavy duty sleeping bags, but would’ve preferred something a little more cozy to keep the heat in.
Rain & Inclement Weather
The Gazelle T4 Hub Pop-Up Tent is a great tent to use in the rain because of it’s design and waterproof rating.
It has a waterproof rating of 2000MM for the shell and 3000MM for the floor. This well surpasses the waterproof criteria for fabric (which is 1500MM).
Also, the rain fly stretches out past the footprint of the tent, so there are no issues with rain water getting into the tent netting of the roof on the tent.
The tent rain fly also gives you coverage over the doors & windows, so you can keep the tent linings open in the rain if the wind isn’t blowing the rain sideways.
Wind
We’ve had some windy nights in this tent. It does well overall, but we had an issue one time with the strong winds pushing the tent wall inwards (like you would do when folding the tent up).
It was the first time and only time in 4 years that we had to put extra rope from the tent to the stakes in the ground to keep the wall anchored outwards like it belongs.
Last year, we also had the tent tumble down a shoreline when we didn’t get it staked up in time before a gust of wind.
The high profile of this tent makes it easy for the wind to blow it away if not staked down properly.
When you have the tent staked down securely, then moderate wind is not an issue.
The Biggest Con: Storing The Tent
This wouldn’t be a fair Gazelle T4 Hub Pop-Up Tent review if I didn’t talk about the storage of this tent. The easy pop up feature on this tent does have its negatives.
In order for the instant pop-up feature, the tent is made with long framing that can’t be folded down more than the length of the tent.
When you store this tent in the storage bag, it is an 8in x 8in x 67.5in bag. It is basically like a skinny, oversized duffle bag. That 67.5 inch length bag can be hard to store and transport.
The weight is not a huge issue, but the tent is 30 pounds total when packed up in the carry bag. The carrying bag has a sturdy handle that can easily be lifted and carried on the shoulder, so an average adult can carry it as long as 30 pounds is feasible for them.
If you’re transporting the tent in a car, you might have to put the seats down and store the tent along the back seat and trunk space.
We’ve had the best luck with just storing it on top of our vehicle on the roof rack. Thankfully, the waterproof bag is heavy-duty and does great in all weather.
Other Gazelle Tent Options
Gazelle Tents has a handful of options when it comes to the T4 pop-up hub tent.
They have a T4 Hub Tent Overland Edition of this tent that comes with upgraded stakes & sturdier material on the carrying bag for when you’re going through more rugged terrain.
There is also a T4 Plus Hub Tent that gives you extra space with a screen room. This would be a good tent to use for a small family. The extra screen room gives you enough space to sleep more people or to keep your gear out of your sleeping space.

You’ll love how quickly you can set up and put away this tent. It takes less than 5 minutes each time, which is pretty spectacular for a tent set up.
We’ll never go back to a standard tent after experiencing what instant tents are like with this Gazelle tent.
It also beats car camping, as you have so much extra space between the large floor square footage and the tall ceiling. You don’t have to cramp into a car, but can sprawl out in this nice spacious tent.

Those Gazelle T4 tents are just pure crap. They leak even though they advertise they don’t. They leak through the walls, though all 4 corners, up through the floor, and if you camp up in the mountains in the forest, at night all the wet night air comes right through the netted top of the tenant and leaves you with a wet sleeping bag in the morning. You can get really sick from getting wet in cold night air. The openings to that tent are very dangerous. You cannot get out of the tent if you need to get out in a hurry because of the configuration of how they zip up and down in a semi-circle with zip tags that all look the same. I know what I’m talking about because I’m a professional forester and I’ve slept in some of the worst FS tents you can imagine in the mountains, fighting forest fires and cruising timber. I never got wet in any of those tents. The Gazelle T4 is very hard to set up and take down and it’s extremely heavy. Their advertising is deceptive.
Hi Jane! This is all really good information. We haven’t experienced being wet in the tent. I can see what you mean by the doors being a bit harder to open in a high-stress situation if there was a forest fire. I think the design of the zipper on the side of the door would be easier in my opinion, opposed to the large arc motion you have to make with the zipper on a normal tent door. I really appreciate your input and hope it helps others make a decision when buying. The tent is definitely not light, but we love the set-up process, space, and quality so much that we don’t mind the extra weight.
